ReplyDeleteThis is in regards to the photo exhibit (which I would be interested in working on): Here are links to the exhibit that inspired the idea. Its called the Hapa Project (Hapa is a word for people who are half Asian) and there is another exhibit called Mixed which is for multiracial kids. Both are series of portraits along with a written answer to the question "What are you?"

For our exhibit I have one comment and several questions.
Comment: At the end of the Hapa exhibit there was someone who would take your polaroid and then let you post it to a wall along with your own response to the question "What are you?" Could we do something like this in our exhibit? The issue is Polaroid no longer makes instant film, and we could do it digitally, but that is pretty expensive.
Questions: Do we want to have people write their answers or should be record them with audio or film?
How are we going to print the images and are we going to frame them or just mat them? These are pretty specific, but frames and prints can be kind of expensive.
I would be interested in looking into food and contacting the Exelano project.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the Photo Exhibit--my guess is that funding would be put towards putting the photos up. I talked to the Student Coordinator for Arts & the City, and the deadline to submit arts grants has passed. She said that if we partnered with/cosponsored with Art Club, they would be able to help us find good deals.
ReplyDeleteOn the venue front, she also said it was incredibly difficult to get Fox Art Gallery (i.e. booked 6 mo. in advance, generally). I'll keep asking around and see if we can get it, and how much it will cost.
